Avant-Drag! offers an exhilarating look at ten Athenian drag performers who deconstruct gender, nationalism, and identity while facing police brutality, transphobia, and racism. As entertaining as it is thought-provoking, challenges societal norms and reshapes perceptions of LGBTQ+ culture by capturing the intimate lives of a group of drag performers, proving that being othered can feel familiar.

Acerca del Director

Fil Ieropoulos, nacido en Atenas en 1978, estudió cine y estudios culturales en la Universidad de North London y Artes Mediales en Westminster. Obtuvo un doctorado en Artes y Comunicación en la Universidad de Kent en 2010. Es profesor titular en la Universidad de Buckinghamshire desde 2003. Su primer largometraje, ORFEAS2021, se estrenó en Thessaloniki IFF. Su segundo, Avant-Drag!, en IFFR.

Fil Ieropoulos, born in Athens in 1978, studied film and cultural studies at the University of North London and Media Arts at Westminster. He earned a PhD in Arts and Communication from the University of Kent in 2010. A Senior Lecturer at Buckinghamshire New University since 2003, his first feature, ORFEAS2021, premiered at Thessaloniki IFF. His second feature, Avant-Drag!, premiered at IFFR.
