Por la noche, en algún lugar, en una vieja casa rural, a la luz de una lámpara de aceite, se oye un silbido, se levanta el telón y comienza un espectáculo de marionetas parlantes. Se representan fábulas bíblicas, El Auto de la Creación del Mundo. Historias que forman parte de la memoria colectiva de los habitantes del Alentejo (región del sur de Portugal), que resisten al paso del tiempo, que conservan vestigios de la conciencia de comunidad existente entre todos los participantes, artistas, detrás y delante del telón.
At night, somewhere in an old farmhouse, by the light of an oil lamp, a whistle sounds, the curtain rises and a show with talking puppets begins. Biblical fables are performed, such as the story of the creation of the world. Stories that are part of the collective memory of the people of the Alentejo (in southern Portugal), that stand the test of time, that preserve traces of a community consciousness shared among all those involved – performers, behind and in front of the curtain.
